No Plastic Wednesday is an initiative to promote sustainability and reduce plastic waste within the organization. This campaign aims to raise awareness about the environmental and health impacts of single-use plastics while encouraging employees to embrace sustainable alternatives in their daily routines. Each Wednesday, employees are encouraged to use reusable water bottles, tumblers, or mugs instead of disposable options. They are also invited to bring their lunches in reusable containers, minimizing packaging and opting for eco-friendly meal preparation.
To support this effort, an email campaign will provide informative tips and reminders about reducing plastic waste, while a social media challenge will inspire participation by encouraging employees to share creative plastic-free practices using a designated hashtag. By fostering a culture of environmental responsibility and collaboration, this initiative reinforces the Commission’s commitment to sustainability and demonstrates its leadership in addressing critical environmental challenges.
The Securities and Exchange Commission, in collaboration with BEST, launched the Trash to Cashback Program to promote ecological solid waste management. The initiative encouraged employees and community members to practice source segregation by registering as Eco-warriors. Participants exchanged recyclables at MBE-C centers for Environmental Points (EPs), which could be redeemed for cashback and other incentives. All Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) credits generated through the program were allocated to BEST.

PLANTITOS AND PLANTITAS
PLANThursday (which sounds like Planters Day) is the dedicated day to recognize and celebrate the Plantitos and Plantitas in the workplace to honor their passion for greenery, and fostering a green culture within the organization.
By acknowledging their efforts, we highlight the importance of their contributions to our sustainability goals. This celebration boosts morale and inspires a wider adoption of eco-friendly practices throughout the workplace, promoting ongoing engagement in sustainability all year round, not just during Sustainability Week.
The SEC Sustainability Committee successfully held the Commission’s first Sustainability Week on 17-21 April 2023 with the theme “Sustaina-ALL: Accelerating the Leap to Sustainable Living”.
All departments in the SEC actively took part in the roster of activities, which marked the start of everyone’s awareness and commitment to “walk the talk” as advocates of sustainability and the “Environmental Movement for Innovative Living”.
